Declaration H1N1 (Swine flu)Efficacy of disinfectants against H1N1 The influenza H1N1 virus (swine flu) is part of the "enveloped" group of viruses like the already known influenza H5N1 virus (bird flu). A chemical disinfectant can claim virucidal efficacy against enveloped viruses after successfully inactivating Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus (BVDV) and Vaccinia Virus according to the guidelines of the German Association for the Control of Virus Diseases (DVV) and the Robert Koch Institute (RKI, former Bundesgesundheitsamt). All disinfectants provided by esteer® Pharma GmbH for hand and skin disinfection as well as disinfection of instruments and surfaces show efficacy against enveloped viruses. The corresponding tests where performed by independent institutions, complying expert reports are available. Therefore the disinfectants can claim efficacy against H1N1 as well as H5N1.
